Things to do

The dam, a calm cove, the covered marina, and a meal in town. We kept the restaurant names fictional so this demo is not borrowing a real business.

Jamestown

Wolf Creek Dam

Wolf Creek Dam is in Jamestown, a short drive from all three houses. It is a long earthen dam with a concrete powerhouse at one end, not a tall arch. A road runs along the crest.

If the generators are running, the tailwater below the dam is moving. That is not a swimming spot. The overlook is worth a quiet morning. The lake on the upstream side is the same water you see from the deck.

On the Russell County shore

A swimming cove

The water in the coves is clear and green, and the limestone at the edge is the bottom you are stepping on. It is not a sand beach. Water shoes help.

We will point you to a cove that stays calmer when the channel is full of boats. Life jackets in a few sizes live in the hall closet. Please bring them back salty and wet. That is what they are for.

About five minutes from The Marina House

Covered marinas

This is a houseboat lake. The covered marinas are long metal roofs over slips, with the hills right behind them. The Marina House is about five minutes from one.

We do not run the marina. Fuel, ice, and a pontoon are the reasons people drive over. Ask us which door has bait this month. It changes.

Russell Springs and Jamestown

A meal in town

Skip the chains out by the highway if you can. Russell Springs still feeds people at a meat-and-three and a biscuit counter. Jamestown has a Friday catfish supper that locals actually use.

The names below are demo names, so this sample is not borrowing a real sign. The photo is a county-seat street, not a listing. On a real stay we text whatever is open that week.

  • The Square Plate

    Russell Springs

Demo name. Meat-and-three. They are done after the lunch rush.

  • Biscuit Window

    Russell Springs

Demo name. Go early. The case is empty by midmorning.

  • Friday Catfish

    Jamestown

Demo name. Catfish on Fridays. Not a chain, and not a real restaurant.
